Hallmarking

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Hallmarking scheme certifies the purity of gold jewellery sold in India. Under the BIS Hallmarking (Amendment) Regulations, 2021, it is mandatory for all licensed jewellers to sell only BIS-hallmarked gold articles.

A BIS hallmark consists of the BIS logo, purity/fineness designation (e.g., 18K, 22K), and a six-digit alphanumeric HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification). Each HUID uniquely identifies your piece and can be verified on the BIS CARE app.

All gold jewellery sold on Zyvora is BIS-hallmarked and carries a valid HUID. The hallmark details — including karatage and HUID — are printed on your invoice and available in your order details.

We source from BIS-licensed manufacturers and maintain hallmarking documentation that is available for inspection upon request. Non-hallmarked gold products (such as antique or kundan pieces below the minimum weight threshold) are clearly labelled.

Look for a small stamped mark on the inner surface of the jewellery. The number (916, 750, 585) denotes purity in parts per thousand — 916 = 22 karat, 750 = 18 karat, 585 = 14 karat.

You can verify the HUID of any piece by downloading the BIS CARE app (available on Android and iOS) and scanning or entering the HUID code.
